Gelael achieved so as to achieve the Formula 1, albeit in a role of tester: at the moment, his career has not been especially brilliant, and your lack of results makes it impossible for a future opportunity as a pilot officer due to the points system of the Superlicencia. The pilot of 20 years, until now, has featured more for the important economic support that has been enjoyed by his father, Ricardo Gelael, owner of Jagonya Ayam, a franchise that acts as a distributor of the fast-food chain KFC in Indonesia through a joint-venture.
After making his debut in single-seaters with a fourth in Formula Pilota China in 2012, Gelael made the leap to Europe, competing in Formula 3 in 2013. He did so accompanied by the champion of the Pilot, Antonio Giovinazzi, who funded the jump to Europe to serve as a hare in indonesian. With this, Gelael was eighth in the british F3 with three podium finishes (the last among those who played all year), falling to zero in the european championship. The year following, Jagonya Ayam increased its presence and put Gelael (and Giovinazzi) in Carlin funding to complete a second structure of the british team in the european F3. Gelael managed to score in 9 of the 33 test, and finished 18th overall.
In 2015, even with Carlin, jumped in to the Formula Renault 3.5, in which he got 7 points in three races, and with which he took part in the second half of the GP2 season. Last year, Pertamina, the national oil company of indonesia which was behind Rio Haryanto, supported his adventure in GP2 funding (and licensing as a team indonesian) to Campos Racing. With the Spanish team, Gelael managed a second-place finish in the main race of Austria, after stopping in the pits before a lucky Safety Car, and added two more points in the mad race of Baku, finishing the year 15th overall. His third assault, at the renamed F2 and again, along with Pertamina, will be with Arden.
Gelael, in addition, made in 2016, his first steps in the field of resistance, within the LMP2. Alongside Giovinazzi won the 3 hours of Thailand and Malaysia in January of that year (Asian Le Mans Series), was fifth in the 4 hours of Silverstone European Le Mans Series) and played the last three tests of the Endurance World, being second in the 6 hours of Shanghai within the class LMP2.
