In a surprising press release that Volkswagen has just published it was announced that no less than 11 million engines EA189 of the Volkswagen Group have software lines that falsify their emission levels when they are tested approval. No response yet. We should note that the Euro5 standard was less stringent than the American equivalent standard , the Tier 2 Bin 5. The latter is even more demanding than the current Euro6 on emissions of nitrogen oxides: allows issuance of 43.5 milligrams per kilometer, compared to 80 milligrams per kilometer of Euro6. The concentration of nitrogen oxides tested in circulation by the West Virginia University is between 10 and 40 times higher than allowed by US legislation.
They face a maximum fine of 18,000 million euros in the United States.
Volkswagen itself explicit in its press release that all Euro6 thrusters – riding an anti-pollution SCR AdBlue injection system on the exhaust – meet current environmental provisions both EPA and the European Union. Volkswagen has already provisioned 6,500 million euros to cope with possible compensation, fines, calls to review or a possible combination of the previous three. In 2014 the Group had a profit of 14,800 million euros.
