The concept of SUV as is not unknown to us, have spent many years on the market, though its explosion short has occurred in the last decade. Another thing is to associate this type of bodywork a roof, retractable or removable as does the Range Rover Evoque Convertible. However, before the arrival of this there were others who have already submitted an aspect convertible. Let’s take a look back and remember some of them.
If figure is well-known, but it never ceases to amaze us with that look so campero
Jeep Wrangler
The Jeep Wrangler has a hole in the books of history of the car, no doubt. Introduced in 1987, the Wrangler took the witness of the Jeep CJ, the civil version of the iconic Willys military. Since then, this small, but great off-road has been so many versions that it costs to number them. Many of them had a body convertible, with a retractable canvas roof manually. A style that today is very popular and will continue to be part of the family Jeep for always. A historical that could not miss in this list.
Nissan Murano Crosscabriolet
The truth is that the Murano Crosscabriolet was the first SUV to have a retractable roof. Although the love story of Nissan with the SUV began really with the arrival of the Qashqai, the Murano and had a few years in the world market. In of the multiple versions that could see the most spectacular of all was the Crosscabriolet. Ahead of his time that was not too much commercial success. Just three years what had Nissan on the market, although it served as an example that SUV and the convertible are two concepts that can go hand in hand.
Land Rover Defender
If iconic is the Wrangler, not least is the Land Rover Defender. Born in 1948, we are in the SUV/off-road with the longest history. In their more than 67 years the Defender has hardly changed, remaining unaltered despite the many trends that have been emerging.More than two million units have been manufactured at this time, and although many rumors are pointing to its demise, the truth is that many of us has left a mark. Their versions are endless, and versions, removable roof, or soft top, they are the most range of all. The grandfather of the list that you have to be very present.
Relegated to the garages of the great fortunes of the G-Class is an icon and a true todorerreno
Mercedes G Class
could Not miss in this list. The Mercedes G-Class is another one of those suvs that have a long history behind it. Like the myths above, the G-Class is capable of displaying a configuration with a retractable roof, manually clear. Today this Mercedes has become more of a fashion item than anything, but do not forget that in its principles was designed and manufactured in order to supply the armies of half the world. By the way, unlike its rivals, the G-Class knows how to play league of glamour as only the Evoque Convertible is capable of doing, even the Pope had one.
Toyota Land Cruiser
We end this list with another classic, the Toyota Land Cruiser. Although many think that it is an off-road relatively modern, the truth is that you only have three years unless the Defender. The Land Cruiser has been produced in bodies of all kinds, from an ambulance to the convertible that we are dealing with. Today Toyota has deleted the versions are convertibles, but given it’s fame that you have in the whole world that there are coaches which carry out special work with the old units removing that roof and leaving the sky bare. A modern classic.
Sure that have there is more, but few, if any, has had the popular acclaim of these. Five units, some we can continue to see them today, which have opened the way that now seems to take Range Rover. The Evoque will have to prove that in the future may be a member of this honorable list. We’ll see.
The Land Cruiser original had had with a soft top that today the Icon is responsible to recover
