The margin of presentations, events and the publication of the entry list for the WEC and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the preseason has begun days ago for the manufacturers present in LMP1. Toyota has completed his first kilometres with the TS050 in MotorLand and Paul Ricard, while the Audi R18 e-tron will have test during this month. Porsche opted to try their new 919 Hybrid in Abu Dhabi, but the days of the test have not done everything well that I would have liked the team since Marc Lieb suffered an accident with the Porsche 919 Hybrid.
Porsche had planned four days of testing at Yas Marina with the update of the Porsche 919 Hybrid which will compete in the season 2016 for the WEC, although mounted on the aerodynamics of 2015. However, and during the last Tuesday, Marc Lieb lost control of the prototype and suffered a crash in the curve 19 of the path, damaging the area that joins the suspension of the Porsche 919 Hybrid with the monohull of the prototype. The firm did send the parts needed to repair the vehicle and to return to work during the day on Thursday.
The brand added 2,000 miles with this Porsche 919 Hybrid with mechanically renewed and aerodynamics of 2015. In the test were present Romain Dumas, Neel Jani and Marc Lieb, monitored carefully by Andreas Seidl. The project Director LMP1 Porsche tried to make a positive balance after testing at Yas Marina: “we Had a day of rest and of course we were testing again on Thursday. Not ideal, but I think that we have been able to compensate for the lost day”. After these tests with a prototype close to the specification 2016, Porsche will return to work in the third week of February, again in Abu Dhabi.
