it Was almost a secret, but now it’s official. Emil Frey Racing returns with the Jaguar XK GT3 to the ‘Endurance Cup’ of the Blancpain GT Series. The training switzerland played the five tests of endurance that make up the calendar for 2016, targeting its efforts at the 24 Hours of Spa. The training will put all the meat on the grill this season and has planned to a program with a second XK GT3 from the round of Paul Ricard, test that a dispute between the days 24 and 25 June. In total, there will be three appointments with this double bet.
For the moment, and with a only Jaguar XK GT3 at Monza and Silverstone, the formation of switzerland has confirmed to Stéphane Ortelli, Albert Costa and Lorenz Frey as the three riders who will compete in this first unit of the XK GT3. The presence of the Ortelli, winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1998 in the GT1 class and Catalan Albert Costa, winner of the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and WEC and the Eurocup Mégane Trophy, allows the computer to raise their competitive level. Emil Frey Racing will compete for the first time in the Pro category of the ‘Endurance Cup’.
This step forward of the category Pro-Am to Pro means, among other things, a greater and more complex competition. Ortelli, Costa and Frey will face a total of 27 contenders in the category of Pro, in what will be the most important challenge taken on by the team in its trajectory, as is explained in Lorenz Frey: “As the youngest team in the Pro category of the ‘Endurance Cup’ of the Blancpain GT Series, we are facing a challenge egregious. Even so, we have the experience and performance of Ortelli and Costa, so we hope to get great results. I’m looking forward to working with them”.
