Alonso: “it Has been a first day in Spa very productive”


Fernando Alonso has completed a positive debut competitive with the Toyota TS050 Hybrid #8 in the free of the 6 Hours of Spa, the first appointment of the WEC. The Spanish rider, who was not in the Prologue, has used these first two sessions to finish to adapt to the prototype japanese, but, above all, to begin to understand the traffic in real conditions. Despite this, the spaniard has been able to leave his seal and mark with a time of 1:58.392, record that has enabled him to be the fastest rider in FP1. The japanese Kazuki Nakajima clocked the fastest time of the Toyota #8 in FP2.

at The end of the first two sessions of free in Spa, Fernando Alonso has made the balance of the day and its premiere in the WEC: “Has been a first day in Spa very productive, with the FP1 and the FP2 with the cars of other categories. I missed the Prologue of the WEC, so that was the first time that I was with all the traffic. It was great. It has been a day of entertaining“.

In this line, the pilot spaniard has reviewed also the work that he has done along with his two companions, Sébastien Buemi and Kazuki Nakajima, the whole time the three have been fine-tuned to the extent possible, the performance of the Toyota TS050 Hybrid: “I Think we have done a good job in the computer with Buemi and Nakajima. We worked on the balance of the car. We feel more prepared for tomorrow. I am happy with the car, so I hope that we can do a good classification“.

In this aspect, Toyota has the rod of a favorite face-to-classification having regard to the performance of a return of the Toyota TS050 Hybrid, the entire time that the two prototypes of the japanese brand have been shot in 1:56 during the FP2, while the best of the LMP1 private, that has been the BR1 from DragonSpeed. However, the best time of Pietro Fittipaldi with this prototype has been in 1:58.8, so that the difference seems very big to be able to threaten to Toyota in qualifying and even in the race.
