Apple could be interested in buying McLaren

McLaren logo AppleApple takes a lot of time working to get it in the automotive sector. It is no secret that they want to launch an electric car and fully autonomous, the Apple Car. Now the technology firm might be interested in buying a manufacturer with plenty of experience in the sector. It would be McLaren, the british brand with headquarters in Woking, dedicated to producing sports cars and also has a presence in Formula 1.

Some rumors say that Apple is interested in the McLaren Technology Group, the parent company founded by Ron Dennis, who owns the 80% of the shares McLaren Automotive. Is also in possession of McLaren Applied Technologies, a branch focused purely on technology, and that is present in several sectors. The sources suggest that Apple may be interested in a partial acquisition, which would be the definitive push for the development of your vehicle.

McLaren P1 LMAlthough it is a possibility, of time seems quite remote. The philosophies of both brands are completely opposite: while one is looking for an electric self-contained, the other develops supercars. The McLaren Technology Group is valued at an amount between 1,000 and 1,500 million pounds, although as we said, the main drawback is not the price. Do not forget that Apple has already purchased other companies of greater value.

After the amount of rumours and assumptions that were made, McLaren wanted to disprove these conversations. “”We can confirm that McLaren is not in any kind of negotiation with Apple for a possible investment. As you can imagine, the nature of our brand makes us to have conversations in privates with a large number of collaborators, but remain confidential”, said a spokesman for the brand.
