rumor had it a few months ago to see the possibility of in the future, an Aston Martin Rapide all electric. Finally, it presents this prototype which follows the path of the Aston Martin DBX that we got to know in the past Hall Geneva. It’s called Aston Martin RapidE Concept and is expected to reach the market as a production model in a period of two years.
This vehicle has been developed in collaboration with Williams Advanced Engineering at its facility in Grove, Oxfordshire. The project has also been funded by a partner investor, ChinaEquity, with headquarters in Shanghai. The purpose of the RapidE Concept is to attach the electrical technology and luxury in a limousine to get to occur it would do so at the headquarters in Gaydon.
At the level of aesthetic changes are minimal. It keeps the same body and elements of the Aston Martin Rapide S. however, under the hood we will not find the great V12 6.0-liter, but an electric motor is signed by Williams. Also identify the logo with the name of the prototype and a decoration of blue dots by contrast with the silver of the bodywork.
Although there are still no official data on the performance of this RapidE, all indications are that there will be two versions. On the one hand there would be a variant more civilized, with rear-wheel drive, a range of 322 kilometers (200 miles) and a potency similar to that of the Rapide S, which reaches the 560 horses. On the other hand would be a more radical and given the performance that would have awd and a power of between 800 and 1,000 horses.
As we discussed, the first production model electric brand, would be the basis of this Aston Martin RapidE Concept. Its arrival to the market would take place in 2017 and the normal version would have a price of a few 272.000 euros (£200,000), the more powerful variant would go up in price. The brand has an initial forecast of selling a few 400 vehicles per year, of which around 100 units would stop to China.
