As I had recently with the new Audi A8, which will be presented in the coming months, the brand from Ingolstadt is preparing a change of scenery in their models, and will bet even more, by hybrid models and fully electric.
Now we know that the germans would be preparing to launch three new models e-tron for before 2020. This would be new variants, power that would strengthen the already announced by the brand, the Q4 and Q8.
Audi A8 will be the first model that will be presented. As I have been told these days, the new A8 will have engines of six, eight and twelve cylinders, being the top of range a W12, and counting, all of them, with hybrid system. This will reduce the consumption by 0.7 litres per 100 kilometres in the base version, which can mount a V6.
This new A8 will be presented in the Audi Summit of Barcelona on the 11th of June. In addition to the A8, it is thought that the new A7 will also have variants hybrid.
The new electric models would not be vehicles, PHEVS, or plug-in hybrids, such as the A3 Sportback e-tron, which uses the same hybrid system that the Volkswagen Passat GTE and Golf GTE, but that would be completely electric.
This makes sense given the agreement that maintains Audi with Porsche with regard to platforms for electric vehicles, which means that the new Audi models will share platform with the next electric vehicle from Porsche, the Porsche Mission E. This also resulted in rear wheel drive vehicles, instead of quattro or front, as it has been doing with Audi for all these years.
All these developments have been well-known in the of the annual event of mark, based in neckarsulm, Germany. These three new electric models, which will be launched during the next three years, respond to the plan that the German brand has for a third of sales in 2025 to be electric vehicles or hybrids.
