Dakar is one of the most difficult races in the world, a competition in which the simple fact of getting to the goal is already a victory. Ruben Gracia it premiered this year as pilot of the Dakar accompanied by the legendary co-driver Diego Vallejo at the controls of a Mitsubishi Montero ARC T3 shoes with BFGoodrich strict series. The result: 2nd place in his category, and 43rd in general, a success.
Ruben Grace, a rookie pilot in this renowned competition, but with a long list of achievements to their backs, has taken charge of take to good port the Montero T3. To do this it has counted with the invaluable help of Diego Vallejo, a sympathetic co-pilot with a long history of racing that I had already walked (and finished) the Dakar in 2013.
Mitsubishi put on the car, a Montero T3 “only” 220CV, more than 2,000 kilos of weight and a fuel tank of 120 litres. BFGoodrich set of tires, several sets of BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 and Mud-Terrain M/T KM2 totally standard, identical to those that you can mount in any workshop.
All parties involved have come out smiling in the Dakar 2016, to the point that they have already agreed to repeat for 2017 and to finish among the top 30 of the general. We had the occasion to have lunch by the pilots, representatives of Mitsubishi and Michelin in a session full of anecdotes dakarianas, some funny and others which gave something of fear.
to Finish the race with the car virtually whole and not a single puncture is quite a feat. In the next edition will be even more outstanding of the two spaniards in our usual daily coverage of the Dakar.
