In the contest of elegance of the world’s oldest, dating back to 1929, the bavarian manufacturer has presented several prototypes that are reminiscent of some of the classic models most mythical of the brand. On this occasion, has been given to know the BMW 2002 Hommage concept, a concept car that, taking as a base of departure for the current BMW 2-Series brings to our days the entire essence of the mitiquísimo BMW 2002 turbo.
Coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the brand, all the prototypes of the saga Hommage BMW, which pay tribute to the cars, most legendary, will be on the incomparable event of Villa d’este. This year the BMW 2002 Hommage is the protagonist, as it marks the 50th anniversary of the launch of the BMW 2002 turbo, one of the classics, the sport’s most coveted competition.
The BMW 2002 turbo is the model most representative of the 02 Series of BMW, whose position today is occupied by the Number 2. In his time the BMW 2002 turbo was a milestone in terms of its mechanics, one of the most advanced in the world to be the first series production car to feature a turbo. BMW has not specified which engine is under the hood of the 2002 Hommage, although it is not difficult to imagine that the heart that gives life to this spectacular prototype is not other than that of the BMW M2. In such a case, we would be talking of a block of inline six-cylinder with 3.0 liters of displacement and two turbos to get nothing less than 370 HP power, 200 more than the model to which it pays homage.
