CES in Las Vegas is red-hot with some of the latest technological innovations. BMW, as usual, has come to present to us the i Vision Future Interaction, with your name, as we anticipate what is about. It is a prototype that foreshadows the cabin of an autonomous car with seal BMW. Their functions take precedence, in this particular car, on the design.
Is based on the already known i8 Spyder Concept you dress her up with some identifying details that don’t seem to have too much account of what hides in the interior. That might be the reason why they have chosen a prototype convertible, for revealing to us what we will see in the BMW’s autonomous future. Neither has doors, go no further.
The main novelty is focused on the screen 21-inch widescreen that stands at the top of the dashboard, on the passenger side. Both passengers can see it, and it will be there where you visualize the activities center which the brand has prepared. The navigation system, the access to the Internet, videos, or applications are available from this screen and brain of the car. The Head-Up Display, for its part, increases its field of action and reports of the dangers of the road.
BMW has made this system one of its latest technologies, the closer to the production: gestural control. Very present in the latest prototypes of BMW, the gestural control enables you to interact with the contents of the screen simply by moving the hands. A series of sensors will be able to interpret our movements, prefixed, to undertake the orders. For example, by sliding the hand toward a side could spend a picture or to change songs. Also it recognizes movements in depth.
Obviously all of this is a standalone component, the main layout of the prototype. It has installed a selector driving modes that portends three possibilities. On the one hand we have a mode Pure Drive, which allows you to drive the car manually, then you have a way to Assist you, and with a manual control the car detects and corrects a possible accident, and finally an Auto mode that configures the car as a real autonomous car.
