BMW will provide technical support to a team of Formula E

BMW Motorsport is ready to expand its borders. The
movements of the racing department of BMW have consistently shown that their
official programmes in the DTM and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship are not
enough. In addition to managing the option of creating a BMW M6 GTE to compete
in the WEC in the near future (2018), mark has developed relationships to land
in single-seaters. In this aspect, BMW Motorsport will provide technical support to one
of the teams of the Formula E
, a fact that has been confirmed, without giving more names
Jens Marquardt in his role as Director of BMW Motorsport.

Although Jens Marquardt has been referred to in abstract terms,
all indications are that the German brand will give technical support to Andretti Autosport

a first step to land in a category that they already have some
presence thanks to the BMW i8, electric vehicle that makes the work of Safety
Car. For the moment, this step should not be understood as an arrival as
official team of the Formula E
, but as an approach to the category
waiting for events to certify to the firm that the creation of a
department is targeted exclusively to the cars electrical

In this line, it seems that the border at the time of launch
an adventure in uppercase in the category electric is in the elimination
change car mid-race, so that BMW would not join the
Formula E with official team until the season 2018-19
. In any case, and
although this step is still far in the future, the commitment adquerido with one of the
teams that are already established in the Formula And serves to place at BMW Motorsport in
the map of the cars electrical
, something very important to Jens Marquardt on
all level of marketing and media exposure.
