Car bizarro of the day: the Cadillac Eldorado 16-cylinder saxophonist of Bruce Springsteen

once in a when they leave cars what more peculiar to auction. One of them is the crazy Mosler TwinStar, which in its origin – in the already distant year 2000 – was a simple Cadillac Eldorado Coupe. The preparer american, also known for making small runs of supercars craft, he decided to double his power by installing a second engine in the back. The result was a strange coupe 2,200 pounds, 575 HP of power and excessive consumption of fuel. Let those times!

With a total displacement of 9.130 cubic centimeters, should not surprise an enormous appetite for gasoline.

To construct the Mosler TwinStar, the preparer had to widen considerably the chassis of the Eldorado Coupe. Where was the trunk in the coupe, he now lives in – or rather should I say another – engine 4.6 V8 Northstar 300 HP of power. Associated to an automatic gearbox and with a cooling system ad-hoc, it is 25 HP more powerful than the 4.6 V8 Northstar that powers the front wheels of the car… associated with another automatic gearbox. It has all-wheel drive, two engines and two gearboxes.

Each engine has a ECU, but the driver only has to operate a set of pedals and a single lever changes. Those that have tried it speak that it is an animal that is very heavy – as we said before, about 2,200 pounds – but is surprisingly fast: makes the 0 to 100 km/h in less than five seconds and has a tip that is unknown, but surely greater than 250 km/h. In terms of fuel consumption, Car & Driver experienced a year ago, and circulating half-standard of about 25 litres per 100 km

Their behavior was acceptable, and really the only sticking point of the car was its aesthetic, a somewhat peculiar and not suitable for all audiences. In its interior, the only change worthy of mention is a couple of extra clocks for the second engine. The copy that you have on the screen is one of the five manufactured by Mosler in the year 2000. In particular, this unit belonged to the late saxophonist of Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, the great Clarence Simmons.

Your property is documented, but the eBay auction failed to reach its reserve price, so that it may be auctioned in the near future. The same car was auctioned off early last year for about $ 45,000, but this second auction has not been as successful.
