The Generalit de Catalunya has announced the approval of a new strategic plan that will encourage the purchase of electric vehicles in the Catalan region. The project, which will begin this year and be completed in 2019, is designed to multiply by six the recharging points for electric vehicles in Catalonia. In total more than 21,000 charging stations that will facilitate the task to the drivers of this type of vehicle and will serve also to increase the presence of electric cars in the cities of this autonomous community.
The strategic Plan for the development of recharging infrastructure for electric vehicles (PIRVEC) is backed by a investment of about 5.8 billion euros. An amount that will serve to spend from 4,000 to 21.400 charging points. In this way, by multiplying almost by six stations dedicated to this service is expected to multiply the demand of electric cars, placing Catalonia as a region more committed to this type of car.
Catalonia will offer 42 charging points semirĂ¡pida to 400 points. In the same way install 42 fast-charging points. The measure, which seeks to encourage the growth of this market allocated 2.6 million euros in grants of up to 50 % for the installation of charging points in private areas. And is that the promotion of the electric car passes by to give facilities to the users by installing charging points in, among other areas, parkings community.
This autonomous community is intended to give a firm guarantee of supply of energy to the users of electric vehicles. Although, Catalonia already has about 4,000 charging points, a high figure if we consider that mere 5,000 electrical roll on our roads. in Addition, the majority of electric vehicles sold in our country are going to stop fleets of public or private services.
Despite the fact that this segment continues to grow, Spain still can not be compared with other countries of the European Union where the presence of this type of car is much stronger. In Norway one-fifth of the vehicles sold are electric and in the Netherlands, with a share of 9.8 %, also are very aware of electric mobility.
