Great successes, notable failures, falls, and victories. The Dakar has dealt a lime and a lot of sand between the Spanish riders of bikes and quads. From the first to the last of our have a story to tell. In general lines, Joan Barreda has been the pilot more successful, and at the same time the person who has suffered a pratfall more remarkable. The pilot of the HRC has added a stage win -in the prologue – and he was fighting for the positions on the podium until he had to abandon in the seventh stage. Gerard Farrés has been the best Spanish rider in the general.

The young Spanish rider and jewel of KTM has finished in his first Dakar twelfth, sneaking in the seventh position in the penultimate stage. Both have shot consistently and that has been noted in the final straight of the Dakar, when the lower of notable riders have allowed them to gain positions.

Laia Sanz, Ivan Cervantes and Jordi Viladoms have crept into the top twenty, although Jordi Viladoms has fallen far from its optimum performance. Still a reference on the KTM, Viladoms has been away from the head and that has led him to having to perform the work of ‘backpacking’ in functions at various times during the Dakar. For its part, Laia Sanz has returned to clinch a good Dakar, although comparisons with the previous edition can be odious. Finally, Ivan Cervantes has put in a magnificent debut with the Himoinsa Racing Team.
