One of the claims of the season 2017 of the World Endurance (WEC) is the arrival of the new generation of LMP2. Oreca, Dallara, Onroak and Multimatic-Riley are the manufacturers that have been granted to develop and sell their prototypes, and while Onroak was the first to present his model, today most seem to have taken more steps is Oreca with the new Oreca 07, and only model that part of the foundation of its predecessor and not a model 100% brand new. All in all, Nicolas Lapierre completed its shakedown last week in the track of Paul Ricard.

After this first test in Paul Ricard, David Floury, Technical Director of the project, stated: “We are in an initial phase of our program, but this test is very important and positive. Luckily, we have not found any problem and we have been able to work well. The level of performance of our prototype during these test days has been exactly what we expected with the simulation. I can say that the potential of the Oreca 07 is very interesting. We have taken a step forward with respect to the Oreca 05 and even though this is only the beginning, to see the car on the track is a reward for the whole team“.

Nicolas Lapierre, former driver of the Toyota in the WEC and with great links with Oreca, was chosen to make the first kilometers of the Oreca 07, experience with the that ended up really satisfied: “a while Ago I showed some sketches, but now that I have tested it on track I can say it has improved in all aspects. I felt comfortable from the moment I started to try it out. We had a good session, very quiet. Makes Me want to get back on track again because Oreca 07 marks the beginning of a new era for the class LMP2“.
