The DTM is without a doubt one of the categories of first level with a calendar more compact, at least in the last few years. With nine appointments between may and mid-October, the contest enjoys a long winter and an extensive pre-season in the non-missing sessions of testing of the three manufacturers involved in the German championship. In this aspect, Audi Sport, BMW Motorsport, and Mercedes-AMG have already scheduled the test sets that will be conducted throughout the pre-season 2017 before the debut competitive event, which will take place in Hockenheim on the first weekend of the month of may.
In this aspect, and after completing the usual ‘rookie test’ Sherry at the end of last year, the DTM has three dates marked in red at the time of the preparation of the new season. Pilots, technicians, and cars from Audi, BMW and Mercedes are shifted in the first instance to Portugal, one of the scenarios, which are increasingly common in the test category. The tests in Portimao will last between days 20 and 24 of February, while the second test of the category will take place between days 13 and 17 of march in Vallelunga (Italy).
The last test is scheduled for days 3, 4, 5 and 6 of
April in Hockenheim, just a month before the start of the competition. Despite
therefore, it is expected that brands will complete their own test level
individual at the margins of these common tests, Spain being once more a
potential focus of these test private. In fact, it is expected that at least some
of the manufacturers of the DTM also complete some test in the circuit
Monteblanco, a scenario very common to the test winter of the DTM for the
mild climate that offers Huelva.
