Five years after the death of Marco Simoncelli, the
MotoGP world championship has returned to colour of mourning. Luis Salom has died
during the dispute of the second free practice of the Catalunya GP in the
Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The spaniard of the team Stop and Go
suffered a massive accident in the curve 12 of the path when you subtract 25
minutes of session. Although two doctors and two ambulance cars attended the place
of the accident to be treated in-situ to Luis Salom, finally the Spanish rider lost
the life at the 16:55 hours in the operating room of the General Hospital of Catalunya.
Despite the large security measures of the path
Catalan, the bad fortune wanted that Luis Salom impactase against your own
bike after losing the control of the same in a section of the circuit in which
you can speeds at around 155 km/h. In this way, the
the pilot’s body impacting at high speed against his Kalex, which in turn
out catapulted in the opposite direction and crashing against the barriers
moments before. The coup against the mass of the motorcycle has been what has cost the life, since at no time the ‘airfence’ have been able to cushion the impact.
Although in a first moment, he mobilized the helicopter
medicalized until the curve 12 to move to Luis Salom at the General Hospital
of Catalonia, finally, we opted for an ambulance transfer to be greater
space to be able to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation by the medical team. The two maneuvers of resuscitation carried out both in the place of the accident as in the trastado hospital center unfortunately they were not enough and , doctors of the General Hospital of Catalunya could only certify the death of Luis Salom.
