Lighter than its previous version and with aerodynamic improvements, Lotus has unveiled its new Elise Cup 250. In particular, 14 kilograms lighter than its earlier version, stopping the scales at 884 kg, quite an achievement in the sports car, thanks to the materials used in their manufacture, such as carbon fiber, titanium and aluminum.
This new version also includes sport seats made of carbon fiber, alloy wheels, rear-view mirror is made of polycarbonate and a new li-ion battery.
All these components facilitate the low weight of the Lotus Elise Cup 250, but in addition, we will be able to mount an optional package with components of the interior and the bodywork made in carbon fiber will make the weight go down even more, up to 860 kilos. You can also add a exhaust system made of titanium which costs about 4,500 euros and the brake discs are still more sports that will help to further reduce the weight.
The changes in the design that we can find in the new Elise Cup 250 is reflected in a new front, with air intakes, larger and a rear part which include only two taillights, a design simple and conservative. In addition, it has a new wing, more streamlined with a central part recessed with respect to its sides, and a new rear diffuser, what will make this new Lotus to produce up to 125 kg of downforce at a speed of 225 km/h.
The Elise Cup 250 mounts a four-cylinder engine of 1.8 liter supercharged produces 246 horsepower and a torque of 250 Nm. All this power is sent to the rear wheels through a manual gearbox six speeds, setting the acceleration of 0 to 100 in 4.3 seconds and the maximum speed of 247 km/h.
The price of this new Lotus Elise Cup 250 is 54.000€. Remember that the market of light sport is made of alternatives, such as the Alfa Romeo 4C -this being the most expensive costing around 80.000€-, the models of Caterham or the model of the Danish brand Agile Automotive, which encrypts your SCX in 67.000€.
