DS assesses the possibility of launching a Citycar two seats, a sort of Smart ForTwo which could in the future enhance the range of the French brand that is in the process of renewal.
La range of models of the luxury brand of the PSA Group is very close to be renewed, with the production output of some models that have already accumulated several years on their backs and with the arrival of other new models that put emphasis on the crossovers, currently the most demanded by the customers.
DS 3, DS 4 and DS 5 were introduced to the market from the year 2009 in the case of smaller, which at that time posed as an alternative to the MINI hatch. A year later came the DS 4 as a new proposal in the compact segment, while the crossover DS 5, was premiered in the market in the year 2011.
The three models are already very close to exhausting their life cycle and be the first to say goodbye will be the DS 4 and DS 3 be laid off the next month of June. The DS 3 will be in production soon, since will be replaced by a small crossover that will take the name DS 3 Crossback, a new model that will be presented in October and will begin its production at the end of this 2018.
But while the range of DS seems to be oriented purely to the crossovers, still seems to be room for some innovative proposals, as the French manufacturer sees the launch of other alternatives.
Ivo Groen, the chief designer of the DS, announced in recent statements to the press that while the French brand already has a roadmap that envisages the launch of six new models, in the future there could be space for a small city car of two seats, a sort of Smart ForTwo to the French, with a touch of “premium” DS.
while Groen has not offered concrete details about this Citycar DS, we understand that tata of a proposal that at least is already in the studio and could see the light in the next few years.
