Ott Tanak already have their suitcases almost ready to call at Toyota Gazoo Racing, which a priori implies that Elfyn Evans will end up at M-Sport, independently of what happens with the future of Sébastien Ogier. However, the recent winner of the Rally of Wales has expressed his desire to be able to form a team with Ogier in M-Sport and as well learn from the five times winner of the WRC. Although it is true that Sébastien Ogier is weighing several options, today, it is quite likely that you can make the union between the French star and the young british pilot.
In this aspect, Elfyn Evans has made very clear its position, in which do not feel fear by having a companion of the likes of Ogier: “I Really hope you don’t go. I have enjoyed working with him and with Julien Ingrassia during the test, and I’ve really learned from them throughout this season. The team has achieved great things this year, but I think that we can still move forward and that there is still more that we could do together. It would be a great pity that the team had to change too. I would like to return to the next season where we ended up, with Ogier still in the team”.
In this respect, Evans has acknowledged not having reviewed the option of becoming the leader of the team to the eventual launch of Tanak and Ogier, if this finally decides to leave after the Rally of Australia: “It was something that he had not yet thought of. Tanak and I were in a similar position in 2015, when we were both at a similar level and we were still relatively inexperienced. But now I think that the situation would be different. I would not say that I have more confidence in time, but I do have a different kind of confidence. you don’t see a big problem in leading the team if Ogier is outside, but I really hope not to do so”.
