The Car of the Year in Europe 2015 was announced today and the award was won by the Volkswagen Passat eighth generation. The second place went to Citroën C4 Cactus and third place for Ford Mondeo .
E n today announced the ‘European Car of the Year’, chosen by a jury 58 journalists of the main engine related media world, from 22 different countries. The jury had to choose between several models, but that the winner was the Volkswagen Passat .
The eighth generation sedan was introduced in mid last year and managed to win the award for several points clear of second-placed Citroen C4 Cactus.
But in choosing product also attended the Citroën Ford Mondeo, BMW Series 2 Active Tourer, Nissan Qashqai, C Class Mercedes and Renault Twingo .
The new Passat, despite being a completely new generation, has a continuous line that appeared not to affect the vote of specialists. But the jury praised its high technology, its high level of safety and mechanical diversity.
In the second place the Citroën C4 Cactus started off with 248 points, while third place went to the Ford Mondeo with 203 points. The Nissan Qasqai won fourth place with 160 points, the BMW Series 2 Active Tourer fifth with 154 points and finally a seemingly misunderstood Renault Twingo 124 units.
