M-Sport is facing the Rally Sweden with renewed illusion. Mads Ostberg is back among their ranks and have the Norwegian is synonymous with success in this rally. In addition, the training lands in the single prueba winter season after it to set a good rally in Monte carlo, where Mads Ostberg finished fourth and Eric Camilli left some flashes of speed before leaving. The Ford Fiesta RS WRC have always shown a good performance in Sweden, although the peculiar conditions that accompany this year to the test make any favoritism in a remote option. M-Sport hopes to be able to take advantage of it.
Mads Ostberg has played in new occasions, the Rally of Sweden, with a background of four podiums. His best result is second place he achieved in 2011, while one of its worst performances dating back to last year, when he finished tenth. Perhaps for this reason, and to compete again with M-Sport’s Mads Ostberg is very motivated: “everyone knows that the Rally Sweden is one of the best moments in each season. Is a home race for me and certainly want to do something big. We have disputed the Rally Finnskog to prepare for our participation”.
Mads Ostberg understood that the Rally of Sweden this year is going to be different to what is typical in this test: “we’ll Have to wait and see the conditions we will find in the test to know if we are going to have an advantage or a disadvantage to the exit in fourth place, but we do not believe that is a very big problem. I have great memories with the Ford Fiesta RS WRC, and this week I want to add more. I don’t see any reason to be able to fight for the positions on the podium. That is our goal, but I’m definitely going to push for the victory”.
On the opposite side of the coin, we found the last pilot to join the ranks of M-Sport. Eric Camilli has never contested the Rally of Sweden, has hardly any kilometers on snow after the test performed with M-Sport last week and of course has never competed with a World Rally Car in an appointment of this type and with these features. Your mileage on the Ford Fiesta RS WRC is limited and it is palpable that the Rally of Sweden has to be a test to learn: “I expected a big challenge, but I’m anxious to experience my first rally snow. There will be a lot to learn, but I’m motivated”.
The French rider is clear about what that may require: “We’ve had a day and a half of test during the last week. driving on snow gives a real sense of speed and I think I’m going to enjoy this rally. I insist, I know that I have much to learn before being able to fight for the top positions. Ostberg is an expert in this area and has given me some tips. I am sure that in rally I will learn more. I should Just accumulate experience in order to be competitive in the future. If I look with confidence and with good feelings, I will try to get close with my times to the best”.
