When we talk about muscle car we cannot avoid thinking of the classic Chevrolet Camaro, Dodge Challenger and Ford Mustang. Are three models that represent the perfection of the golden age who lived in the united States in the middle of last century. However, the fate of each one of the models has been quite different. Chevrolet Camaro has managed to upgrade and maintain their global sales but goes with a certain delay compared to the Mustang.
The case of the Dodge Challenger is even worse, as their platform continues to be old and their technological evolution compared to its rivals is still light years. Therefore, if we by world relevance to these models, we have the Mustang as the first model, the Camaro as a second and third and last the Challenger. Proof of this is that the sales of the muscle car of the signature blue oval far exceed the 100 thousand units per year.
As has been communicated by the Ford Motor Company the Mustang has managed to enroll during the past fiscal year, 2016, 150 thousand units. The growth we have experienced in enrollment of the model with respect to the past 2015 has been 6 per cent. In addition, their exports to third countries has grown by 101 percent, as evidenced by the growth we have experienced sales in some markets beyond the seas.
The most important thing for the american model is China because their sales have grown 74 percent being the sports most sold in that country. So we can compare, the Chevrolet Camaro has been sold in China during 2016 2.033 units and the Ford Mustang has been placed 3.022 units. Other countries or areas that have seen increased sales of the Mustang are New Caledonia, Gibraltar or Bonaire.
According to Mark Schaller, Manager of Markets for the Ford Mustang, “the legacy of the Mustang continues to grow, and in places it had not reached before. We are working very hard to reach new markets, considering that the drivers continue to answer with a approval rotund”. Currently, the Mustang is offered in 140 countries and are increasingly because they are returning to areas that had been neglected and they are reporting huge sales.
In our country, the Ford Mustang is the model, of the segment sold more according to collected ANFAC and ANIACAM being ahead of the Audi TT.
