The team Williams has lived a Friday, fairly quiet and typical in Yas Marina. Both Valtteri Bottas Felipe Massa have accumulated a good number of laps without any major incidents and have improved significantly from FP1 to FP2, the result of the decrease in the temperature of the asphalt with the entry of the night. All in all, Williams seems to be ready to fight with Force India both in Q3 and in the race, as the difference that has separated the riders of both teams has been small. The best lap from Friday has been for Bottas with a time of 1.41.959.
The own Finnish driver, who finished seventh in FP2, he recognised that everything had gone according to the script provided for the two Friday’s free. With a time of 1:45.940, Valtteri Bottas finished fifteenth in a FP1 that the team has been doing some testing techniques for the next season: “As Friday, we can say that everything has gone well. In the FP1 we were doing some tests very specific with the engine, and the aerodynamics of the car, so lap times are difficult to interpret and are not representative”.
During the FP2 and with a script more focused on the own GP of Abu Dhabi, Valtteri Bottas managed to finish seventh with a time reference of 1:41.9. With regard to that session, the finn explained: “During the second free the car felt a lot better and it seems that more or less we’re where we have been in the last few races. Once more, we will be fighting with Force India, but I know that there are improvements we can make in the car and there is much more to come tomorrow in terms of performance”.
For his part, Felipe Massa has joked after you complete your last Friday as a F1 driver and team Williams. The brazilian, who has scored a best time of 1:42.268 to finish in the tenth position of FP2, he said with humor: “Has been my last Friday so that I would have loved to finish in first position. In fact, I’d like that on my last Saturday and especially on my last Sunday could also be in first position”
Already in a serious tone, Felipe Massa, discussing the day: “Today we tried to find out as much about the tyres and the car as we could, especially in long runs. It will not be an easy race, but I will do everything possible to get a good result here in Abu Dhabi, on my last Grand Prix. I will Try to enjoy everything I can, but it better come with a good race result, so that is what I hope that we can achieve the Sunday”.
