GP Abu Dhabi: x-ray: Abu Dhabi 2016 step-by-step

The first day at Yas Marina was developed without big headlines and with the two candidates for the title marking it up close. Lewis Hamilton showed some speed, but with very little room on Nico Rosberg. On the other hand, the drop in temperatures with the arrival of the night, complicated the tuning of the cars, and led to the emergence of the graining in some of them.

In qualifying, Lewis Hamilton printed a gear and completely dominated his rival for the title, however, was able to hold off the Red Bull and Ferrari, something which, without doubt, allow him to face the race with more tranquility. Fernando Alonso failed to get into Q3 after a spin master in the second round, but Carlos Sainz paid for the inactivity on the track, being eliminated at the first hurdle.

The season came to an end with a race in which the title was not decided until the end as a result of the strategy of Lewis Hamilton rolling at a slow pace from the lead, putting Nico Rosberg in the position of having to defend against the Ferrari and Red Bull, with Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen at the helm.

But the German rider will be defended impeccably and it earned him his first world title in a race in which Fernando Alonso has brushed shoulders with the Force India and Williams to get the tenth place finish in the race and in the championship of pilots. Worst luck ran Carlos Sainz, who had to leave after being hit from behind by Jolyon Palmer, a circumstance which damaged the gearbox of his Toro Rosso.

below, we review a pilot to pilot the highlight of your weekend.
