McLaren failed to put any of their two single-seaters in
Q3
the GP of Bahrain, while Stoffel Vandoorne was removed when
I rode 12. The belgian driver had a positive debut on its first session
classification in Formula 1 and was even able to overtake Button. After a
promising role during free practice, Jenson accused understeer during Q1,
that in the end led to the technicians from McLaren to sin in the changes made
in the McLaren MP4-31, which in the end showed sobrevirador in the back
final. Jenson Button will start 14th in Sakhir.

I Think I can be very happy with the result today stated Vandoorne after the Q2. The belgian driver scored a time of 1:31.934 to finish 12th: “I didn’t know what to expect, but since yesterday I have felt confidence in the car and in the adjustments that we have made. I Think that I’ve maximized my options in the classification. I was near to fall in Q1, but then in Q2 I had a clean lap without mistakes. With only one or two tenths, maybe we could have gone in Q3. there is Always room for improvement, but overall I am happy.

After yesterday and this morning I knew that I had a pace similar to Jenson and even though he knew that he had improved, was not able to challenge him. He is a World Champion and an excellent pilot, for what has been a very good reference point for me this weekend,” has explained the pilot replacement for Alonso. Then he added: Bahrain is a circuit that I like and that I know well. It is a good feeling to have done a decent job, but now our attention is on the race. I want to make my best effort to do a job there too”.

The promising performance of Jenson Button during the free is not made patent classification, as the pilot had suffered with the set up of his MP4-31: The car has been very good throughout the weekend and while I’ve had a bit of understeer, just in Q2 we played a bit of the spoiler and the car it was the opposite, demonstrated a large oversteer. It’s a feeling that I don’t particularly like, so I’m not very happy with my lap in Q2. Once said this, Stoffel did a good job today and I don’t. It is very competitive and has tested how fast it can be”.

In reference to his personal choices, Jenson Button explained: we Know that we have pace in the car, so I hope that tomorrow is a little better. In reality, you never know what’s going to happen in the race. We have three tires to choose from and although I think we have a reasonable understanding about what we need to do, you never know until you start the race. The options have multiplied and the truth is that I was the victim in the last race. Now I hope that we don’t go through that here and have a better performance this Sunday“.
