Williams has had a complicated qualifying session in Spa, although a priori the presence of its two pilots in Q3, and the best time of Felipe Massa in Q1 may lead to deception. And is that the record marked by the brazilian during the first session has been a consequence of the forced use of a second set of tyres superblandos to get a time that will come to pass to Q2 after suffering a mechanical breakdown. A software problem that they in fact have undergone the two FW38 and that has forced Bottas and Massa to tighten the teeth.
Valtteri Bottas managed to save the problem of software without altering the number of used tyres, something that has served the dessert to reach the eighth position to have two attempts back during Q3, something that valued the Finnish driver after the session: “it Was a qualifying session a little complicated for us. Taking into account the software problems that we had, I think that we are on the best site that we could be. It is a pity to have had these problems, because that meant that we were not able to fight for being among the first six places”.
With quite a lot of philosophy and knowing that the points are given on Sunday, Valtteri Bottas has wanted to turn the page and focus on Sunday’s race at Spa: “in the end the race is tomorrow and that is what counts. The car felt better today than yesterday, so we can say that we have made progress. Our long runs in practice were good in terms of race pace, so I think we have a good paper tomorrow, despite not having achieved the optimum result today”.
Felipe Massa was the worst part with the problem of software and to the possibility of falling in Q1, the brazilian had to use a set of tires superblandos extra that we lifted to the first position during this session, but that caused him to have only an attempt to fast lap in Q3: “We had a software problem in Q1 that was caused by a fault in the car that prevented me from putting a round good board. Not helped our work because I just had a game of superblandos for Q3“.
Analyzing your job on the track, Massa acknowledged a small bug: “I gave everything in my last lap, but in the first curve I lost a lot of time, I’m not happy with it. Have had two sets of tyres in Q3 would have been a great help, but it didn’t happen, and that has made me lose some positions. However, this is left behind and we will see what we can do tomorrow. In terms of balance, I am happy with the car, with your balance and with the lap times in qualifying”.
