GP Brazil: Carlos Sainz, with no penalty for his incident with Räikkönen: “it Was a malentendido”

Toro Rosso has completed the first day on track in the Autodromo Carlos Pace within of the intended positions, at the edge of the top 10. The two cars of the Italian team finished the day without major complications despite suffering from some cooling problems, but, in the afternoon, Carlos Sainz was the protagonist not desired by a collision with the Ferrari of Kimi Räikkönen.

Both cars were rolled together and were upset during practically the whole of a lap, and were on the verge of starring in an incident at the complex entrance to the pits, when the Finnish accelerated to pass the Spanish rider and access to the pit lane. Both drivers were called to testify at the end of training by conduct “potentially dangerous”, but none of them has finished receiving a penalty.

Sainz said after that meeting that both drivers didn’t stop to react to the movement of the other, and hence what the pilot of the Toro Rosso qualifies as a misunderstanding by both parties, something that has also ratified Räikkönen before the media.

“nothing has happened. It is a Friday, are free only to 2. He has messed around and I recriminat. Then, he has pushed and then I. After, he overtook me because he has more motor, and it has gotten to the pits. The meeting has gone well. It has been a misunderstanding, and so has been interpreted by the commissioners, also Kimi and myself. We have not understood on the track, but now if we have understood. All normal. Is a pique that has to have once in a while. If not, this would be very boring. I’m competitive, of course, but they are things Friday”

with Respect to training in if, Sainz, who was eleventh in the first session, and the thirteenth in the second, going down from 1:14 in both, was not entirely satisfied with the elapse of the tests:

it Has been a Friday a bit complicated if you compare it with the last two, but it still has not been a bad day. In Free practice 2 we were not able to shoot as much as we wanted due to problems of cooling, but in the end we were able to complete our program, and that is what counts. we Lose a little bit of time in the last sector, which is made to fund and uphill, but I feel comfortable in the car”.

The sensations were similar on the other side of the garage. Daniil Kvyat ended up both batches in the twelfth position, and trust their choices to the capacity of adaptation of the equipment to potential climate changes: “We lost time on the track this morning, but we’ve taken a good number of laps. We have completed all the tasks and it has been a Friday useful. On Sunday we will have an interesting race, because it gets quite hot, but the conditions can change fast, and we need to react fast“.
