For the fourth time this season, and for the first time since the Spanish Grand Prix, Toro Rosso has gained points with his two cars, in a race that started very expensive for the interests of the team for the rain, where the car was very competitive, and managed to keep a good disposition when the track dried out, the level of the Force India and Williams.
Carlos Sainz started from a good seventh position, he played from the start of their game with intelligence despite of a bad timing at the first stop and came to be sixth after a mistake from Kimi Räikkönen, but a track output at the same point that the finn dropped him back to eighth-place end. The driver from madrid was a little disenchanted with the error which cost him two positions, but noted the good behavior of the car:
“I’m happy with my race today, has been decent. We have had a good first half in the joint conditions: we were fast, the sensations of the car were fantastic, and in a moment I came to go sixth. Unfortunately, I made a mistake in turn 1, I’m not very happy with that. Since that time, I’ve had to calm me down and reset my confidence a little bit. Crouched down your head and cross the finish line in eighth place is a result that we can be happy, but it’s a pity that we have not been able to beat the Force India”.
“that Said, it is the fifth time that we add points in the last six races, so that we are going in the right direction, and we just need to keep pressing. The next race in Hungary should suit him down to our car, so I’m looking forward to having yet another fight by points”.
The conditions of the track were delicate to the beginning of the test, though many riders complained that the presence of the Safety Car was excessive. Sainz has adopted a neutral stance on this aspect:
“Maybe it was too long, there were a couple of laps. It was necessary because nothing could be seen. There were many puddles, and if you were behind someone not see, but then if you have been on the side of prudent. Habijah areas that are not dried, they were like in a hole: you descuidabas, you gave a gust of wind and took you to that hole, that is what happened to me”.
Your companion Daniil Kvyat managed to amend a bad rating and take advantage of the mistakes of their main rivals to finish in tenth place, just behind the Ferrari of Sebastian Vettel. The Russian pilot was very relieved to have been able to complete a race without problems, and claims to have met the goal.
“I Think the race today has not been bad: we made a good comeback, we have endured the pace of the Ferrari, and we have finished in the points, that was our goal. We have been very competitive, and I would say that we have deserved more points today. It is a good sign after a period of bad luck so long”.
“Personally, I’m happy: I’ve finally had a good day at the track, and a long time ago that I was not feeling well. I am sure that we will learn from these positive moments and that we will take the opportunity until the end of the season”.
