The Spanish rider was elated after qualifying in
Silverstone. After a previous day in the car
had behaved in a very erratic, Carlos Sainz not trusted
in order to be classified among the first ten. But things
improved in the third free practice session and, after the
Q1, Carlos knew that it was auspicious day to give the bell.
“Very well, very happy for what we have done today. It was not
nothing easy to find that performance after where we were
yesterday and be ahead of the two Force India, a Williams and two
McLaren. It has been a great day for us. In Q1, I have improved in
eight-tenths of my return of the Free 3, I felt plugged in because
I saw that it was possible. My lap of Q1 he allowed us to use a single
set of tires, that allowed us to have many soft for the
rest of the session. We have improved a couple of tenths per batch and,
in Q3, I think my best lap of the season.”
a matter of seeing which car of half
ranked eighth, if Hülkenberg, Fernando (Alonso) or me.
I’ve done ninth, but Nico has been long gone and I’ve got the
eighth square. I’ll start seventh (Vettel
drag a sanction of five squares).
When I have said he was very happy. Clean side of the
grill, the car, the top-ranked half
grill. I’ve been to
limit of the car and I got it that it was possible to get the
car. There were No more. Have been a few times really good and I’m
delighted with them. We all knew that today there was no more”.
“Yesterday we were a second off the Force India and not
we understood the reason. I stayed here (in the circuit) to very
afternoon and at the end it all worked out. We’ve changed quite a bit the
set-up, obviously the downforce. We have optimized what
we had and today we find ourselves in a very good position. Today I
been very comfortable. Perhaps in
how slow we have yet to go as we want, but in how fast we go so
well we get everything else.
I think that the burden that we carry is of the highest of the grill,
but then you see our top speed and you are scared. End
among the first seven would be an accomplishment,
we have cars very fast, but nor can we develop
with them. We have to keep looking forward”.
Daniil Kvyat, as usual, not had a day so
positive, ending the classification in a poor fifteenth
plaza. The Russian pilot complained armargamente to be bothered by
Kevin Magnussen when he was in his last lap of Q2.
“I Was on my way to my best time of the session, sure, and he
I was five seconds below his time. Just got
in front of me. Started from Becketts, I lost downforce.
I Thought that I would pass on the straight of the Hangar, but not
moved, so did the last four curves behind him.
with Respect to the other drivers in qualifying, I turn away. I think
it would have been close to Q3, because the Q1 started poorly but the back
came when it really mattered”.
With Force India something far in the championship standings, Toro Rosso has only a four-point margin over McLaren and eight over Haas.
