In one of the paths more harmful to their rivals from Maranello, Red Bull is maintained as the more robust alternative to the dominance of Mercedes. For sample, the good positions and times on long runs obtained in the first free practice sessions of the Hungarian Grand Prix, where they remained ahead of Ferrari.

Daniel Ricciardo capped off the day with a second place, taking advantage of the accident of Lewis Hamilton, and only half a second of the time set by Nico Rosberg. The australian rider, who finished the first session in fifth place, he stressed that the team is meeting the goals so far and is pleased with the new tarmac:

“We would like to be a little closer to Mercedes, but by the time , are more or less the seconds, a little faster than Ferrari today, so we’re more or less where we expected to. We knew that there would be little difference with Ferrari, so if we can stay ahead, it would be great. I think that we are in a good position to be a Friday. We have to aspire to a podium, the last two years we have been on the podium here. Three consecutive years would be great”.

“The new surface is not too different, it is a little more smooth, but the nature of the circuit remains the same. I was worried that he might lose something of its character, but I think that remains pretty much the same. As more cars roll on the track during the weekend, the track should be fast growing“.

The Dutch Max Verstappen was today as a consequence of his teammate in both sessions: sixth in the morning and fourth in the afternoon. The young driver’s car number 33 was a good day’s work and had no complaint with regard to new pianos Hungaroring, but believes that there is room for improvement in terms of race pace relative to Ferrari and that the variation of the weather conditions on Sunday could influír in it:

“we Started in a simple way on Free 1, and we have followed our program. Free 2 were a lot better, we were pretty close to the pace of the Mercedes, and the long runs seemed good, so I’m happy with it. I made a small mistake in the last sector of my fastest lap, but those things happen, hopefully only today and not tomorrow”.

I Want to improve the car a bit for the race, the Ferraris are not too far away, so we’ll see what happens tomorrow. The time could be more warm on Sunday, which normally means more problems for the tires, but it is the same for all. For me, the pianos are pretty good here; if you have an oversteer, you can go long, but otherwise it is okay to stay in the track limits”.
