A stop on lap 29. That was all the activity that Valtteri Bottas demanded of its mechanics in a Large Award of Malaysia in which the Finnish driver flashed very anonymous as a result of the many interesting situations that we experienced in Sepang.
But the finn, as Jolyon Palmer a little further back, managed to make to work perfectly a strategy of a single stop that he ended up revealing himself as adequate. “All the cars around me had a better pace at the beginning with the soft tyre. But we knew that, after a few laps, it would match and we would have advantage, getting the opportunity to make a respite longer, and possibly try to make only one stop”.
Williams keeps the pulse with Force India
Bottas was able to finish the race ahead of Force India and McLaren, who were fast during the race, but not more effective. “I Am delighted that we could make it work, it was a bit risky, but it worked 100%. It was important for us to get these points. Felipe was very unlucky, and maybe we could have achieved that with both cars, we’ll try it in Japan, but is still a great duel with Force India, and today, I really enjoyed”.
Felipe Massa had to settle for a thirteenth place after he stopped three times in boxes, and having a day to forget: the accelerator didn’t work in the grill and had to start from the pit-lane, to subsequently suffer a puncture after placing the hard compound after the first safety car virtual.
