The difficult conditions of grip that has provided the asphalt of the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez during qualifying of the GP of Mexico have been a problem for several drivers, among them Jenson Button. The british driver has had serious problems to be able to put the tires at optimum temperature and that has cost its elimination in Q2. All in all, Button will start thirteenth in Mexico, two positions behind Fernando Alonso. Both pilots seek to be able to optimize his starting position for the clean side of the line and the choice of tyres to try to reach the zone of points.
Very sincere in his intervention in the playpen of the press, a Button was recognized: “My best lap was with old tires and in the Q2. During the entire session couldn’t get the new tyres working properly in the first sector. On my last lap I lost three tenths there and although my sectors two and three were good, could not get the balance right in the first section of the circuit. I Sincerely hope that our race pace is better than the one we had today, although we do not have a bad position and I’m excited for the race”.
Analyzing his chances, Button explained: “P11 and P12 would have been the best possible scenario for us, because it would have been perefcto for the race. However, out in the thirteenth position is also not bad, because I’m going to start from the clean side of the track and we can do our own tyre strategy, something that you always want in a race like this. When you are inside the top ten, ninth or tenth, you just passed if you have used the superblando in Q2. The tyre is difficult to handle, and tomorrow I think that our strategy can be better”.
