Force India is still the team’s most consistent and regular of the area medium-high grill and, in Austin, has started with the right foot for the weekend. Both Sergio Perez as Nico Hülkenberg have shown to be very hopeful with the behaviour of the car on this first day and await the qualifying and the race with good expectations.
Nico Hülkenberg, who ended both sessions among the first six, has highlighted the absence of problems during the day and stated that they are ” behind the top three teams from the grill in a circuit that is well suited to the car.
“it Has been a Friday quiet, which is how you want to start a weekend. We had No major problems with the car and we were able to accumulate much mileage. We tried many different things with the set point in the afternoon (second session), so the work tonight is to try to understand what is the best direction to follow. I’m reasonably happy with the balance of the car, but I know we can improve for the night. We are in a good position to start and I am optimistic for tomorrow and Sunday“.
“it Has been a positive day and we have a general view of what we can do. We are behind the first three. I’m Really satisfied with the balance that we have. I think that this track should be a good circuit for us”
Sergio Pérez was not present at the first session, but soon picked up the pace in the second and waiting around the seventh place in qualifying. The mexican pointed to the degradation that suffers the superblando and the huge difference in grip with the soft, something that will be a determining factor in race when drawing strategies.
“only Today I was in the car for the afternoon, but I managed to have speed very fast and I am very happy with my laps. I think that we are in a promising position. The car is going very well and I think that we found the window of the set up fairly soon. Nico tried another approach different to mine and this should help the team to have all the information they need to make a good decision tomorrow“.
“There is enough degradation, especially in the compound superblando. In the medium compound is not that big. There are problems of degradation, but especially there is a difference in grip very large between the superblando and soft. The goal is to be in that seventh place is the maximum to which we can aspire. If we have a classification such as we’ve had in the last two races, it would be very promising for the race”.
Alfonso Celis returned to get on the Force India in a session of official training, and both he and the equipment ended up very satisfied with the experience. Celis stressed the improvement in the curves of low and medium speed, as well as in the braking.
“I Am delighted with the improvement that I have seen during the morning, especially in curves of low and medium speed and in the areas of braking. Just had two games superblandas available, so I had to use them intelligently. Never take out the maximum of a return at the first attempt and by the end of the shoot-your gums are not in their best moment but, taking this into account, I’m happy with what I have achieved”.
“The most important thing is that I went out to collect data for the team and I collected all that we needed, that was what I had to do. In the staff has been great to see so many mexicans in the stands. I will not be in Mexico next week, but I have been delighted to see support of my country, it has been very motivating”.
