Grand Prix of Europe 2016: Results of the free practice sessions

Castillo en el GP de Bakú Inaugurated the European GP in Baku. 2016 is the first year that runs the Formula 1 here in this urban layout and landscape of the most historic and picturesque with those walls and the castle. The track has the longest straight of all the calendar, bringing the engines to the limit, therefore, is an urban layout, but it is the fastest of all. Does not allow mistakes, because the walls are close as in Monaco or Singapore, the asphalt is very new and is green, and the loopholes penalize a lot.

In principle, there has been some problems and scares as those who have been given Sainz, touching a little bit the wall with his front wing, and the blow that has destroyed the car of Ricciardo in free practice 1. The rest have been scares mild without major consequences, past and braking cars in the loopholes. Perhaps not so much for what was expected, although morning is when you press the limit and lead them nearer to the walls, so we’ll see if tomorrow there are more accidents.

Mercedes en el boxAnecdotes of the day, for perhaps that some cars have been tested with configurations of downforce is quite low for what was expected of an urban circuit, and is due to the tremendous straight that there is. This is perhaps a key, to sacrifice a little bit in curves and make a good time on that straight where the engines are less powerful are going to suffer quite a bit. And this goes for Renault and Honda. Already announced from Red Bull that they would lose about 1.2 seconds per lap due to the straight and autodescartaban for the win here…

McLaren-Honda, Alonso has come to be 4th with tyres with harder compounds brought here by Pirelli. Jenson Button has also been 7th. In free 2 have fallen to positions somewhat further behind, with Alonso in the 11th position. We do not know what should be the time of the free 1 but have been relatively poor. In addition they have seen as they used the map G10, the least powerful of all, being the G1 the more powerful, therefore, if we add that the tires were not the fastest and not have thrown in with the full power of surprise as I say the times… it seems that already stands out from today, at least in top speed, it’s Carlos, which made the tip longer.

Pirelli had brought some tires too hard, very conservative as always. Do not seem to teach a good lesson the italians, and this is something that will not give so much excitement in terms of strategies. And speaking of italians from Maranello have had their moment of glory in four to radio when Vettel has returned to complain, this time Alonso, who was going very slow for a problem that has had on his power unit. Specifically, has said that “I’m losing temperature in the tyres like crazy because Alonso is giving a return in tourist bus for Baku“, because Ferrari is struggling to heat them up.

Alonso desabrochandose el cinturón de seguridad y saliendo un poco del cockpit para apretar el botón de NeutralA Alonso has demonstrated his / her experience when your car is stopped and you have unbuckled the belt in full gear to get out a little of the cockpit and press the button of Neutral crowding the commissioners, going in neutral and allowing the car to reach the box with the inertia that was carrying… just Curious image that has left the Spanish!

needless to say that the Mercedes are still invatibles, has had just one weakness in terms of reliability today when the car of Nico stopped by problems in the power unit. Morning the exciting classification, but before the free 3. In ActualidadMotor we are aware of the latest news emerging for contartelas, and tomorrow we will do the summary of the two official sessions of the F1, as always.
