After the expected launch of the second generation Tiguan comes another novelty of the German manufacturer. This is the Volkswagen Tiguan Concept GTE , a plug-in hybrid version of the successful pre-production SUV. For now is only prototype , but in the future is likely to become an alternative within the range Tiguan with a different aesthetic own models with the acronym GTE.
uses a gasoline engine 1.4 liter TSI of 156 horses combined with a electric motor of small dimensions which is housed in the DSG double clutch specific hybrid. Both engines deliver their power to the front axle, a total of 218 horses . Thanks to its package of lithium ion batteries of 13 kWh GTE Concept Tiguan is capable of walk 50 kilometers in all-electric mode.
This autonomy may not seem like much, but this prototype has a solution to increase that figure. Thanks to the incorporation of solar panels on the ceiling, you can use solar energy to recharge the vehicle’s batteries. With this system we will not forget to plug it into the mains, but will a little help. In a country like ours with good solar radiation, Volkswagen estimated that the year could be travel about 1,000 km thanks to this technology.
The GTE Concept Tiguan has a consumption of 1.9 l / 100km a very low figure achieved thanks to the hybrid system, meanwhile CO2 emissions are just 42 g / km. As for the driving modes can be selected from the all-electric E-Mode and three mixed-use engines that are Hybrid recharge batteries and GTE .
Each driving mode affects throttle response, gearbox or address. The GTE mode is the sportiest and social benefits, through a combination of gasoline engine and electric at full capacity. In this mode it makes the 0 to 100 km / h in 8.1 seconds and a top speed of 200 km / h . For his part in the E-Mode the speed is limited to 130 km / h.
Yet the brand has not made it clear whether there will be a production version of the Volkswagen Tiguan GTE Concept, but it’s likely that this plug-in hybrid will join the offer of this compact SUV in 2016, after the release of versions with traditional engines.
