At the end of September Honda we anticipated the first details of the new Honda Clarity Fuel Cell, the new hydrogen car of the brand, which happens to the FCX Clarity, a pioneer in the market. This car is a pioneer among his peers to optimize to the maximum the interior space and to locate both the electric motor as the fuel cell stack under the hood, thanks to which the latter has reduced its size by 33% compared to the FCX Clarity and is also more powerful.
The electric motor provides 177 horses of power, feeding off the own stack, and a set of lithium-ion batteries that serve as the accumulator. Autonomy is not a problem for the Honda Clarity Fuel Cell, since their tanks can store hydrogen to run the electric motor for more than 700 kilometers (leading cars of hydrogen), making refuelling a full tank in 3 minutes. The only problem is outside the car, to the supply network.
The outer dimensions of the Honda Clarity Fuel Cell are generous, with 4,895 mm long, 1,875 mm wide and 1,475 in height, another of the keys, regardless of the location of the engine and the battery, to provide a cabin very spacious. This looks a modern design and clean, with a great touch screen in the center of the dashboard and the controls for the air conditioning under this. In the center console only interfere with the controls more basic to the control of the car.
The production of the Honda Clarity will begin with a small volume and gradually increase. Initially the marketing of the vehicle will be for leasing, though later may also be purchased at the property. The price in the japanese market will be of about 57,000 euros.
Among other peculiarities of this model is the possibility of to act as an electrical generator, and may supply electric power in natural disasters or when they need to. This function will be provided by an accessory named Exporter 900, able to provide electric energy for the average consumption of a household during the seven days.
Japan will be the first market in which it is marketed, the Clarity Fuel Cell, where it will be available from march 2016. Later we will know the release dates for other markets, among which will be Europe.
