The Hyundai Sonata is the midsize sedan Korean brand in the US and a model in the Detroit is betting on alternative propulsion. There has presented its hybrid Hyundai Sonata, but also the Plug-in Hybrid version, plug-in hybrid that can run for 35.5 kilometers in purely electric mode.
Aesthetically some clues as grilling, modified bumpers, side skirts and alloy wheels betray al Plug-in Hybrid Sonata to the experts, although the door of the charging socket on the left front wing leaves no doubt that we are in the plug variant of this saloon.
Inside the changes are limited to box watches, with potentiometer and all information relating to the car’s electrical system, such as battery charging or autonomy and temperature information combustion engine or fuel level. On the dashboard is a status indicator visible from the outside load.
But the most interesting of this Hyundai Sonata is its powertrain. The motor 2.0 GDi four-cylinder is supported by an integrated automatic gearbox six-speed electric motor. Thus combined power of 204 horses are achieved with an 100% electric autonomy 35.5 kilometers . The batteries are recharged in 2.5 to 5 hours depending if the outlet is 240 or 120 volts.
For now it will be a model exclusive marketing in certain US states . A Europe will not come neither this nor any other Hyundai Sonata, instead we have the Hyundai i40. By the time the brand has not released pricing, but says that this plug-in hybrid model will benefit from juicy government aid.
