Andrea Iannone started from the pole and managed to keep the
position, while his team-mate, Dovizioso, won the
position Valentino Rossi under braking for the first corner.
Iannone opted for the compounds softer Michelin in a
attempt to leave at the beginning of the race, but in a circuit
with so many straight lines and very few curves (only ten), it is usual that
groups are formed and it’s difficult to break them as a result of the
numerous rebufos that form.
Five drivers were penalised with a ride through for

After a brief appearance of Rossi by the head of the race in the
first lap, the Ducati mandated for several laps the group
of head formed by six drivers: Iannone, Dovizioso, Lorenzo,
Rossi, Marquez and Vinales. Dovizioso took the baton from his teammate
computer on lap ten, trying to change the pace and get away.
Dovizioso breaks the group
And so it was, as Dovizioso rapidly began to roll in 1:24 and
that led to that, both Marc Marquez and Maverick Viñales
descolgaran of the head group, reducing the struggle for the
victory in a duel between the Ducati and the Yamaha.
The group remained compact and well-defined positions:
Dovizioso set the pace and Iannone, Lorenzo and Rossi waiting for the
pass the turns to play your cards in the pursuit of victory.
But at ten laps to the end, both Lorenzo as Rossi began to
suffer the consequences of the high pace of the Ducati and they lost
contact with the Italian made motorcycles, leaving Dovizioso and Iannone -who
began to press with more intensity to his companion – alone in
With only seven laps to the end, Iannone, who continued to maintain in good condition their soft tyres, took the lead of the race, allowing the Yamaha approach slightly to the Ducati, but soon the Italian was able to stabilize the pace, dropping to 24 media and ending with the hopes of Lorenzo and Rossi, who had to settle for a fight for the third step of the podium.
Andrea Iannone managed to maintain at all times sufficient distance on Dovizioso as his teammate could not even try to overtake in any of the strong braking of the Red Bull Ring, passing first through a goal at the end of the race, leading with this, the doublet Ducati. Jorge Lorenzo completed the podium ahead of Valentino Ross and Marc Marquez. For its part, Viñales was sixth and Pedrosa seventh.
