Jaguar Land Rover continues with its expansion plans and in its roadmap one of the next steps is the opening of a new factory in Slovakia. After the Uk, China, India and Brazil, Slovakia is the new location chosen to produce cars of both brands. The company has not revealed what models will be manufactured in this new facility that will be located in Nitra, it has simply clarified that it will manufacture a new generation of vehicles with aluminium chassis.
To the end of 2018 will not be operational this new factory, which will have a production capacity of 150,000 units and that will begin sometime in 2016. It will launch an investment of 1,400 million euros, which will achieve the goal of 150,000 units in 2021. The firm estimates that 500 million of additional investment could double the productive capacity.
The slovakian government is propelling the automotive industry with a series of aid to the automotive sector. The Volkswagen Group, Kia and PSA Peugeot-Citroën are three groups whose presence has a great importance for the economy of the country. This situation has also fact that Slovakia has a good infrastructure and distribution network for Jaguar Land Rover puts this country to the other options studied in the United Kingdom, the united States, Mexico, or Poland.
The arrival of Jaguar Land Rover will create to 2,800 direct jobs in the own facilities of the group and a few to 12,000 indirect jobs in the companies and suppliers that will work for the factory in Nitra. 43% of the industrial production of Slovakia is related to the automotive industry, and a quarter of its exports, too.
