Joest Racing gives back to the WEC and is set in the DPi

The output of Audi Sport’s WEC had many consequences,
among them, leaving the orphan to Joest Racing, a formation had to sustain the
project of the brand from Ingolstadt. The structure studied in a first time
put in liza the Audi R18 within the category, LMP1-L, but the option of
to compete with the chassis designed by Audi, without the costly mechanical hybrid
did not come out ahead. The historic German team seems to have discarded
this idea of the complications that it represents and to set its eyes on another
championship. Ralf Jüttner, managing Director of Joest Racing, wants to put a project in
marching under regulation DPi of IMSA

The new rules on Ipr which has been developed by IMSA can be
an open door for Joest Racing to go back to the competition
first level
. Without a program in place for the season 2017, the team
German would be interested in competing in 2018 in the bosom of the WeatherTech
SportsCar Championship. To do this, the training would be willing to resort to
the same formula that has been reporting both successes in Europe, or what is the same,
being the support of the project for a manufacturer in this championship, the whole time
several brands seem to be interested in having your DPi up on the track.

For the moment, as confirmed by ‘DailySportsCar’,
Ralf Jüttner has traveled this weekend to the 24 Hours of Daytona with the objective
of talking with various manufacturers that they are interested in
to compete in the category DPi in 2018. In this aspect, and after 25 years linked to
Audi and Porsche, it is difficult for Joest Racing can continue linked to the Group
, except that Bentley of the final leap to the united States and launch a
program in prototypes parallel to that in Europe with the Continental GT3
of the hand of the preparer british M-Sport.
