Earthquake in the motorsport world: Jost Capito, up to now sports director of Volkswagen Motorsport, has left the German company to sign for the McLaren team in Formula 1. Capito will exercise from this same season as chief executive of the team, a position he will be directly responsible to Ron Dennis.
The incorporation of Capito to the squad of Woking is encompassed in an organizational restructuring of the board of McLaren. And this season, there will be three fronts of the project, all of them under the command of Ron Dennis. The ‘tricefalia’ is as follows:
- Eric Boullier. Is maintained as a race director and your responsibilities will be the same until the time within the McLaren team.
- Jonathan Neale. It happens to be Operations Director of McLaren. For practical purposes, it will be the right hand of Ron Dennis within the McLaren group, both in the field of sport, as the technological development and the sports street.
- Jost Capito. Tab as the Chief Executive officer of McLaren. To fill the post which he had until the moment Neale, and will be the connection between the Formula 1 team and the headquarters of the group.
Both Neale as Capito respond directly to Ron Dennis, whose position as CEO and chairman of the McLaren Group is maintained, specifies the statement of McLaren to avoid any type of speculation. The own Dennis confesses that he spoke with Capito this summer to sign him:

From the perspective of motorsport has experience not only in the World of Rallies, but also in Sports Cars, Touring Cars, motorcycle racing and Formula 1, which has an enormous amount of knowledge and a contagious passion”
With Capito at the helm, and Volkswagen has established itself as the team to beat in the World Rally. Yours has been the maximum liability in the last campaigns, in which the Polo R WRC driven by Sebastien Ogier has dominated with an iron fist. In fact, it has achieved 34 victories in 39 tests, disputed with him as sporting director.
Another blow for Volkswagen
