LatinNCAP gives five stars to the Volkswagen Golf and Seat Ateca

to Evaluate the safety of the cars that are sold is very important. We have already spoken many times about the money spent by the brands for their models to be the safest in the segment. However, it’s not worth with the brand advertises as the safest in its segment or market, you should compare it with objective measurements and are provided for this purpose EuroNCAP, LatinNCAP or the IIHS.

LatinNCAP, as we all know is the body in charge of assessing the safety of vehicles sold in Latin America. In the, almost, three months that we have been of the year had not yet conducted any safety tests, but has already made the first and we already have the results. The models that have been tested have been two large, well-known for the european market and Spanish. By a party is Volkswagen Golf and on the other the SUV of the homeland, Seat Ateca.

The first car to pass renewed safety test (LatinNCAP has hardened grades) has been the Volkswagen Golf. This model is not the same that is manufactured for Europe or the united States. Its manufacturing takes place in Brazil but, always according to the brand, maintaining the same standards of quality.

According to the results obtained by LatinNCAP, the Volkswagen Golf brazilian achieved the same qualifications as that which is made in Mexico for the american market. As usual it has tested the basic version of the model, but count with seven airbags, the latest stability control and the safety systems that equips the Golf series, would have been sufficient to achieve the five stars. With all of this, the German model, manages to achieve the five-star protection for occupants adults and five other child passenger.

The second model evaluated has been the SUV, segment C Spanish, Seat Ateca. Like its cousin, the Volkswagen Golf has succeeded to obtain the maximum score of five stars as much for adults as for children. In this case, the standard equipment of the Ateca is something more comprehensive than the Golf and it has been more than enough to get the score. Among the main elements are the seven airbags, control traction or stability.

According to responsible of LatinNCAP, the Ateca is a very safe car, but you can’t compare its safety with that of their brothers-in-range. The reason is that the SUV has been subjected to the testing criteria hardened and the rest of the models (Ibiza, Leon and Toledo) have been subjected to a few tests that are more benevolent.
