The rain has not been the best ally of the Blancpain GT Series in his debut at Misano. The 39 cars registered in the first event of the ‘Sprint Cup’ in the path of Italian have found a unstable weather that hit during the day on Friday for free -especially to the night hours – and to the classification, since the Q3 ended before time to start to rain in two minutes late. An issue that insurance has not bothered to Laurens Vanthoor, the first poleman of the season with the Audi R8 LMS of Team WRT.
The time of the Audi R8 LMS #1 has been of 1:33.262, registry which has led to Laurens Vanthoor to overcome by 15 mils at the McLaren 650S GT3 of Alvaro Parente, the only pilot that has been able to stand up in the path in Italian. A time consuming in any case the good feelings of the Team WRT, as Enzo Ide dominated FP1, Laurens Vanthoor did the same during the second, night and wet-free training and even Frederic Vervisch, the other pilot that competes with the R8 LMS #1, left the best time during Q1.
Returning to the decisive Q3, the domain of the R8 LMS was not so clear, in large measure, by the role of the 650S GT3 Garage 59, but also by the efforts of Norbert Seefried at the wheel of the Ferrari 488 GT3 of Rinaldi Racing. The vehicle is Italian has been positioned third in 0.242 seconds with the time trial faster, relegating to the fourth position in the Audi R8 LMS of Dries Vanthoor and Robin Frijns, although by a margin of 14 mils. Fifth has been Giacomo Piccini with the other Ferrari 488 GT3 on track, showing that the new GT3 Maranello works.
The equality has been maximum during Q3 and so up to 15
vehicles have been shot at the same second the man of the pole. Shows
this are the minimum distances that have been forged by behind
Piccini, first place in the Pro-Am Cup. The Audi R8 LMS of Marcus
Winkelhock and the two Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Maximilian Buhk and Felix
Rosenqvist have been separated by less than a tenth, occupying the
sixth to the eighth position. And just behind them stood the
only Spanish rider to present in Misano.
With a time of
1:33.771, Andy Soucek taking his Bentley Continental GT3 in the ninth
position, surpassing the battalion of Audi R8 LMS which have been located behind
him and between the two maximum exponents of the
Silver Cup. Michael Meadows placed his Audi R8 LMS in the twelfth
position, while Markus Pommer was the fourteenth. It is
note that in Q3 there has been no Lamborghi Hurricane GT3
track, since the seven units present at Misano have not passed the
cut after Q1 and Q2. , we have Not seen any of the BMW M6 GT3.
