The purchase of the Formula 1 by Liberty Media went on to be investigated by the antitrust authorities, which on Friday gave the go-ahead for the transaction to be completed.
In a press release issued by Liberty Media, the american company informed that on the 17th of January 2017 will be held a meeting to seek the approval of the shareholders, in addition to the approval of the FIA.
“Liberty Media Corporation announced that it has received all required approvals of the antitrust authorities with respect to its pending acquisition of the Formula 1. The closing of the acquisition is conditioned upon the approval by the shareholders of Liberty Media, which will try to achieve in a special meeting on January 17, 2017, as well as the approval of the International Automobile Federation (FIA), the governing body of Formula 1. The acquisition could be closed at the end of the first quarter of 2017“.
