Maserati Alfieri Concept (2014), what will become the first sports electric production of FCA?
it Seems that some of the major automobile manufacturers are increasingly clear an electric future. If Volkswagen estimates that it will ship one million electric and plug-in hybrids in the year 2025, from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles also have big plans about it. And not only from their marks higher volume in sales, but also from the purely ‘premium’ and sports.
Maserati is a strong candidate to develop and commercialize electric sports in the medium term. In declarations of Sergio Marchione -CEO of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles – Bloomberg, “I have Always thought that the economic model that supports Tesla is something that we could replicate in FCA, as we already have the brands and models to be able to do it”.
Marchionne wants to give a response to that success with the media-and the expectation that raises Tesla in recent times, with a tangible model. Without wanting to give a full confirmation, in FCA are evaluating the launch of a sports electric Maserati, which would not arrive before 2019. Too much time ahead, but in the absence of materialize, the intention is quite clear: by the time they are evaluating the possibility and experimenting with it.
The Maserati Alfieri, presented as a prototype at the living Room of Geneva 2014, is the main candidate for this “electrification”. Closest are the hybrids: Maserati has already launched the hybridization of its entire range of models, and the first to arrive will be its new SUV, the Maserati Levante, which will have version plug-in hybrid. In addition, Fiat will shortly present an urban electric for Europe, following the path of the Fiat 500e which already is marketed in the U.S.
