Although you evoke McLaren Formula 1 and bittersweet memories perhaps, the beginnings of the British team are so linked to Formula 1 as the championships held across the Atlantic, the famous Can-Am. Bruce McLaren himself died at the Goodwood circuit while testing one of the team’s spectacular cars, machines that were the delight of the public in each race and proved highly effective enough to win five straight championships in the late sixties and early seventies. And it is the memory of those years which has led to the British brand to launch this McLaren Can-Am 650S , a tribute to celebrate its 50th anniversary in the Can-Am.
The McLaren Can-Am 650S will occur in a very limited edition, only 50 units, all based on the 650S Spider.
What you see is a limited edition, very limited. Only 50 units will be produced , priced in UK 255,850 pounds (€ 345,573 at the current exchange rate). Deliveries will begin in spring 2016.
As shown in these images, the Can-Am McLaren 650S only be sold with convertible body based on the Spider 650S.
This creation of McLaren Special Operations will be available in three colors . On the one hand, red (Red Mars) in the same tone that decorated the McLaren M1B Bruce McLaren and his partner Chris Amon, and you can see in these photographs. On the other, one (Papaya Spark) orange tone halfway between the bright orange modern McLaren, and the tone of some race cars of yesteryear, like those used by McLaren in the Can-Am. The third, a glossy black finish (Onyx Black) similar to that used some of the racing teams McLaren racing sports.
Beyond its decor, adhesives and details in black, the Can-Am McLaren 650S will also use some elements made of carbon fiber, such as the hood, front splitter, spoiler, etc.
