We knew that there would be a McLaren P1 GTR inspired by James Hunt and another version of the supercar, but approved for riding the open road, thanks to Lanzante. Now we get more details, and we can say that there will be a McLaren P1 LM, although in a spin, very limited number of five units. Which we will see at Goodwood will be a prototype with the name “P1 XP1 LM”.
To many I will sound the iconic name that has been used for this version. It takes as reference to the McLaren F1 LM that triumphed in the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1995 and also was tuned with the help of Lanzante Motorsport. It also occurred five units, so that history repeats in this case. And as expected, the P1 LM will be practically a P1 GTR on the street.
Have the same hybrid system formed by the gasoline V8 biturbo engine of 3.8 liters and added an electric motor. In total nothing less than 1000 HP of power. Weight reduction will be one of the keys of the model, that gets to be 60 kg lighter that the P1 GTR. To do this you use some solutions such as carbon fiber, exhaust system made of Inconel or coating the vain of the engine with bread of gold.
In the (aerodynamic will also improve with respect to the P1 GTR. Specifically, it will offer a 40% more downforce thanks to new elements like the huge rear spoiler. In the interior the carbon fiber will be the protagonist and we will find a steering wheel derived from that used to carry the McLaren MP4/23 of Lewis Hamilton in the 2008 season of Formula 1.
As in the F1 LM, of the five units that will make the McLaren P1 LM, four will be in orange, and one in a gray color as the images. With your delivery we will include a set of tools, a personalized cover and a mock-up of the vehicle to a scale of 1:8. it Is expected that their exclusivity to raise its price in such a way, that they could achieve the 3.9 million euros.
